Of course, having places to be and people who depend on me is a blessing. I enjoy being an active member of my community and family, as well as helping people therapeutically.
But, sometimes, I question why I am so fatigued. Is it mental exhaustion? Or a physical response to health concerns? Let’s analyze the data:
Physical Fatigue
| Mental Fatigue
|
Meditation -
Find a quiet place to sit. Visualize a calm or happy place; be as detailed as possible. Focus on controlled breathing; breath in slowly for 3 counts and out slowly for 3 counts while eyes are closed and imagining positive visualization. Start with 10 minutes and increase time as necessary.
Prayer –
Think of things you need help with and things you are grateful for. Say a prayer to
your God for surrender, guidance, support, comfort, strength, clarity, or encouragement.
Exercise –
Increase heart rate for at least 20 minutes 5 times per week. Options include: walking,
jogging, biking, swimming, dancing, circuit training, or yoga. Cardiovascular exercise helps maintain energy and increases motivation throughout the day.
Nutrition –
Minimize fatigue symptoms by eating a balanced diet filled with necessary vitamins and minerals, drink 8 glasses of water per day, and eliminate (or at least minimize) sugar, fats, and alcohol consumption.
Talking –
Sharing your feelings and concerns with others is an important step in fighting fatigue. It also helps relieve stress, decrease depressive symptoms, and improve interpersonal relationships.

Journaling –
Expressing your thoughts and concerns in a private diary is therapeutic and relaxing. It provides a means to release anxious and negative thoughts, as well as document reoccurring issues and concerns. If problems persist, seeking professional help and guidance may be needed.
Consistency –
Consistency is the key to preventing fatigue. Take care of your body and your mind daily with healthy habits. Allow yourself time to sleep 7-8 hours per night, enjoy life’s activities, and consistently manage your physical and mental health.
